Name

Nows came from a simple feeling: wanting to play right now, and wanting to play with friends. The name starts from "now" and adds the "s" for that shared, multiplayer feeling.

The main public SEO name is Nows MC. The package and code name `mcnows` is used mostly because it is short, easy to type and works well in code. Calling the project Nows Loader is also fine when the loader side is the focus.

Project stance

Nows is an experimental project. It may spend its first year changing shape as the loader, adapters and developer tooling settle around real mod work.

The project is built around developer preference first. It is a loader that follows the maintainer's taste, workflow and curiosity: simple, direct and indie in the plain sense of the word.

Nows was not made to compete with anyone, replace anyone or prove that it is better than another loader. It is its own thing, in the form it happens to be, useful where that form fits and honest where it does not.

Scope

Nows currently covers metadata, lifecycle listeners, registry helpers, simple config screens, tick callbacks, keybinds, recipe display metadata, networking surfaces, generated data helpers, small client conveniences and stable wrapper values for common Minecraft text, vectors, item stacks, commands, datapack targets and NBT payloads.

It does not try to cover all Minecraft APIs. Advanced mod behavior should still use Minecraft classes, mixins or version-specific hooks directly.

AI

AI is involved in the project as a working assistant. It helps with large project maintenance work such as documentation, repeated adapter edits and bug fixing.

The project direction, decisions, tool choices and publishing choices still belong to TamKungZ_. The maintainer is able to read the code, judge the changes and fix problems directly.
